Community Service

Halloween Painting Contest

Since 1957, Riverdale Kiwanis has been hosting the Halloween Window Painting Contest in North and South Riverdale.  We distribute forms to the local schools, so that the children can paint the windows of local store merchants.  This is a whole community affair with merchants allowing children to paint their store windows.  Riverdale families continually share fond memories of the event.  We invite all to visit storefronts the third week of October every year to visit local children’s artwork.

Senior Boat Ride

The Kiwanis Club of Riverdale has been co sponsoring the Bronx-Westchester South Senior Boat Ride for over 15 years. Senior citizens are invited to enjoy a pleasant cruise down the Hudson River.  This boat excursion is is hosted annually the Monday after Labor Day.  The boat departure is 9:30 am from the Yonkers Pier in Getty Square.  The boat excursion travels the Hudson corridor down to Manhattan, Statue of Liberty and returns to the Yonkers Pier at 2:30.

The senior boat ride is a beloved community event and we hear from seniors regularly on how they look forward to the event.  If you or a senior in your life would like to participate please let us know and we will keep you on our regular updates.

Little League

The youth participation ranges from T-Ball, Pee–Wee, and all the way up to major league teams.  Club members regularly go to games to support community children and build comradery .  There is an annual awards night that members attend and cheer on community children as they get trophies.  Riverdale Kiwanis donates a piece of sports memorabilia as a gift to be auctioned off.
